Nefertiti Dance, Company
Welcome to the Nefertiti Dance!
Nefertiti was a Queen of ancient Egypt, famous for her beauty, and our dance group is named in her honour (see the Nefertiti page for more about Queen Nefertiti). As the saying goes, beauty is more than skin deep, and at Nefertiti we focus on developing poise and self-confidence in our students, whilst having a lot of fun.
Nefertiti Middle Eastern Dance Group formed in 2004 in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia.There are a number of teachers and we all work together in a co-operative way to promote, perform and teach dance. It is community-based rather than a ‘business’. Please see the teacher's page for information about our teachers.
Middle Eastern Dance incorporates a wide range of 'folk dance' styles from the Persian Gulf, across north Africa, Egypt, Turkey, and Greece. What is known as 'belly dance' is just a small part of this. See Origins of M.E.D page for more info on the history of dance.
Nefertiti Dance is primarily a middle eastern dance (belly dance) and multicultural (Bollywood, Spanish and Gypsy) dance group but we also have a highly skilled hoop dancer, and offer a hoop dancing class!
Nefertiti Dance provides a range of styles, skills and experience to students and audiences, and we love what we do! We teach safe dance technique and cater for beginners to advanced. We are a friendly and fun-loving group and enjoy regular social get-togethers as well as class. There is a Children's Group as well.
Kids love the colour, movement, music and 'dress up' of dance. It's great for learning co-ordination skills.
We have a class for children and youth from 6 - 15. This group also performs regularly.

Nefertiti Dance do not ask for a donation for fund-raising events; we gladly do these performances as our contribution to the community.
We do charge a fee for private functions such as birthday parties. This helps us with our insurance, license, and costume costs, which are considerable.
Group: Dancing lessons for children and adult
This class generally caters for more experienced students, but beginners may join it if they wish. This class covers dance technique including presentation skills, plus learning a choreographed dance.

Nefertiti Dance provides high quality, entertaining belly dance and/or drumming performances for community groups, corporate events, parties, conferences, hen's nights, weddings, festivals, fund-raisers etc.

Private one-on-one or small group tuition is available on request. This can be very helpful to beginning students, or students wanting to focus on a particular area of technique.

This class introduces students to the basic middle eastern dance movements and teaches simple and fun dances. From here students can easily move into our regular classes.
It is preferable, but not essential, to do a beginners course before joining our regular classes.
